Betsy and Roger had a small budget for their August 2008 wedding in Huntsville, AL (Roger’s hometown and where they currently live), so Betsy decided to save money by making as many things as possible by hand.
Betsy turned her wedding into a beautiful, stylized event with her handcrafted wedding programs, table runners, well-wishes tree, catering cards, place cards and more. Her friend helped out by designing a wedding logo and invitation design, as well.
Betsy and Roger’s ceremony was at St. Mary of the Vistation, the oldest Catholic church in Huntsville; they had a brief afternoon reception at the town square and then joined a few close friends for drinks at Mason’s Pub.
Betsy says, “After the wedding, I missed planning an event from start to finish and thinking about all of the little details that make a party shine. It inspired me to create my own business, Belly Feathers, to help others have highly personalized events with lots of handmade love.”
Such great wedding photos! COngratulations! It is really a challenge to prepare for your own wedding! I was just looking around blogs and thinking if what kind of card is good for invitations then I stumble upon this blog and I say to myself I know I can do it! Thanks!
Kathrina, so glad to provide some inspiration and encouragement! Here are some additonal ideas on how I applied DIY and cost-saving strategies at my wedding.
